Phoenix, Arizona | Relaxing Getaway

With opposite work schedules for months, Jeff and I were overdue for a vacation together. 😩

Luckily, a few months back we won two night stay at a resort in Arizona: The Phoenix Marriott Tempe at The Buttes!

Winning photo! (Shout out to Southwest Airlines for the opportunity πŸ™Œ)

Not gonna lie, Arizona was not a place I was dying to see, but the FREE resort stay made it OK. πŸ˜‰

And after looking more into it, I found myself getting more and more excited! So as soon as we figured out our days off (and the weather cooperated), we headed to our little getaway!

First off: rolling up to the desert resort hotel, we were blown away by the scenery. It was absolutely beautiful! Seriously, the grounds are gorgeous. And although The Buttes is in the city, it's secluded which really made us feel like we were really "getting away" (sounds dumb, but you know what I mean). So nice!

TBH, I don't really do the whole "resort stay" thing when I travel (I prefer getting out and doing stuff), but we won this. 😌

And what better way to have a stress-free, romantic getaway than from a place that offers everything for just that!

(another side note: gotta admit it was nice to not really have to plan an itinerary and just RELAX)

The Buttes Resort had everything we needed to unwind:

  • Two pools (which are connected by a small lazy river with a window) and a water slide 😜

  • Four hot tubs hidden among the surrounding rocks and waterfalls

  • A hiking trail and views that from pretty much anywhere - at anytime - are amazing!

The Buttes also has great dining options! The first thing we did was eat at Market Café, which offers an excellent breakfast buffet. Lots of options, from fresh fruit to hot breakfast foods, even an omelette station! Trust me, breakfast is my favorite and theirs was on point. πŸ’―

We spent the rest of our first day exploring the property and ordering margaritas poolside from the Thirsty Cactus Pool Bar and Grill. Service was a bit slow here (faster to go up and order than wait for servers to come around), but they were friendly β€” as was all of The Buttes staff! πŸ™‚

Although we really didn't have to leave the resort for anything, we couldn't control the adventurous side, so we did get out to check out a bit of what the Phoenix nightlife had to offer! Which was really just us bar hopping and eventually getting tacos. πŸ˜‹

The next morning we decided to see a bit more of the city (since it was our last day), so we got breakfast outside of The Buttes. Started at Postino for happy hour mimosas, before ending up at Snooze for breakfast. (Everything was so packed during this time!) I gotta say Market Café's breakfast was still my fave, but it was still nice to be out a bit!

Then back to the resort we went, for another day of relaxing poolside. I got tan af🌞

As for our last night, we planned a romantic dinner at Top of the Rock Restaurant, which is attached to the The Buttes hotel (❣️) and has a panoramic views of the city. I recommend trying to get a table out on the patio β€” if the weather permits. We were able to take in the breathtaking view from there, and it was fantastic! πŸ’— (this picture does not do it justice!)

Y'all, if you’re in need a a relaxing getaway β€” this is the place! The Buttes resort was perfect. πŸ‘Œ
