Cabo San Lucas, Mexico | Travel Diary

If you follow me on the 'gram, you know I just came back from my trip to Cabo San Lucas. Miss it so much already!! 😭 Seriously, Cabo quickly became one of the top 3 places I've visited. So beautiful!

It was hurricane season but lucked out with perfect weather throughout the stay. Not to mention saved money on the hotel! Here are some highlights:

What we did:

My favorite activity in Cabo was BAJA's glass bottom boat tour to The Arch (El Arco de Cabo San Lucas). Breathtaking views throughout! And you can BYOB during the ride. 😉 To get to it, you can grab a quick water taxi ride from the marina to Medano Beach, where the glass bottom boat picks you up.

During the tour of Land's End, I saw tropical fish, the sea lion colony, Pelican Rock (with some cliff jumpers), Lovers Beach, Divorce Beach, Neptune's Finger, the famous Arch and other rock formations. All while drinking Modelo Especial. 🍻

It's a really fun/informative 45-minute ride. And if the weather permits, they give you the option to let you off at Lovers Beach to relax/swim. You don't wanna pass this up, guys! There are seriously GORGEOUS views here!

Gotta give a quick shout out to everyone from BAJA's Watersports — they were all super friendly and helpful. Our guide offered to take pictures when we got to The Arch and let Jeff sail the boat halfway back to Medano Beach from Lovers Beach! #LUCKY

BEACHES

Cabo has some of the most beautiful beaches I've seen, but Lovers was definitely my favorite! Lovers Beach has clear turquoise water, pebbly sand and omg the view...absolutely gorgeous! It's also only accessible by boat so it's less crowded. 🙌

Also spent a lot of time out on Medano BeachCabo's longest swimmable beach. It has perfect temperature blue water, golden sand, and views of the Sea of Cortez that are just amazing! 😍 There's also tons of restaurants around the area, so you could grab a bite after a day of swimming.

Solmar Beach was also beautiful, but you're pretty limited on activities here. The undertow is FIERCE so you're not allowed to get in or even too close (security will stop you)! It's just a great place to relax, sunbath, and watch the sunset.

FOOD

One of the places I really enjoyed was Mango Deck. They're located right on Medano Beach, so you have a spectacular view while you dine. First time there, we enjoyed that view, food/drinks and the Cowboys game. 😄

Mango Deck also has live entertainment and Tequila Shooter Armando Di Giorno, who goes around offering 2-for-1 shots in his giant sombrero and dual bandoliers of shot glasses. (We obviously had to do this!)

The drinks specials were pretty good here, so we came back that night for the live music on the beach.

Also tried Cabo Wabo, and it was pretty dope — although full disclosure: we were both feeling a bit too good by the time we arrived (it was after the boat tour with an 8-pack of Modelo 🙃).

Loved the quesadillas and drinks here! I got the 'Can't Drive 55' which was really good AND strong, so yeah after that I had to tap out. 😳

Jeff and I ate upstairs overlooking the market, but the downstairs bar and stage area looked pretty cool — it was painted with neon patterns! Would have loved to have seen this place at night... *sigh* Next time!

NIGHTLIFE

To see what Cabo's nightlife was all about, we headed downtown. And after a few bars, we stumbled upon El Squid Roe — and man, was it awesome! Great music, drinks, and the most random/hilarious decor all around. Plus, Squid Roe's energy is INSANE!

The three-story nightclub has a red double decker bus inside that's part bar-part lounge area, a giant disco ball with Ron Jeremy cutout on top, balconies (with cup holders) so you can people-watch the craziness from any level, and everyone here is encouraged to dance on tables, poles, and/or the cages! At some point they also dropped a bunch of balloon hats over the crowd... 😂 No joke, it was SO fun!

For sure the best club we checked out in downtown Cabo...and probably EVER. Haha!

Where we stayed:

Adding this because I got a lot of questions from my Snapchat about our hotel in Cabo — our view was incredible! We stayed at Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, and man was it worth it! The all-suite resort was beautiful, peaceful, and cozy. 🤗

We found it while looking for an oceanfront hotel in Cabo that wasn't too touristy (noisy). And were just blown away from the pics and reviews we found online about it. Honestly, Playa Grande started to feel too good to be true and once there, it did not disappoint!

The Playa Grande Resort's location is also great: it's a short walk to the marina — where you can grab some lunch, shop, or grab a water taxi ride to visit the swimmable beach of Medano. (You could also grab a taxi straight from the hotel for about the same price.)

Really guys, if you're looking for a romantic getaway type stay in Cabo, I totally recommend Playa Grande. But you could also check out the other hotels on Solmar Beach (all are away from the touristy Medano Beach).
