Instagram-friendly places are #everything right now (I hate that I wrote that too). So now there are literally art installations around Dallas made for basically this purpose: to get “LIKES” ❤️

Although I’m not a fan of people posing in front of art, instead of — you know — appreciating it, I am guilty of going to some for the artBUT also, yeah, capturing myself for the ‘gram 🤷🏻‍♀️#TheStruggle

Anyway, here’s a couple for you to check out before they’re gone!

PRO-TIP: All are fun af tipsy 🍻

SWEET TOOTH HOTEL

This was the first one I went to here in Dallas, and it was pretty sweet. 😉Sweet Tooth Hotel is an experimental art pop-up located in Victory Park. This pop-up changes themes — or as they call ‘em "Chapters.” (FYI: Next one is “Discotech” and opens May 25!)

Since it was my first Insta-friendly pop-up exhibit, I went in not knowing shit. Like, if they even give a tour before to name the artists or if they’ll just let us just run wild, taking pics #forthegram. The answer: yes and no.

So, yes, you get a tour of the “hotel” rooms beforehand. Then, they announce you have an hour to roam around, on your own, to each room and just be courteous to others. It was great I wasn’t in a huge group, because that would have been a shit show. My group, filled with younger peeps dressed extra af for the ‘gram (some joined by a parent), all rotating between each rooms. Went well, though I felt completely out of place, haha. Anyway! There was always a free space available to “have your moment” so people got what they wanted. 📸

I was lucky to have a decent photographer with me at the time too, so note: if you go, you gotta decide which of your friends actually knows your angles 💁🏻JUSSSSAYIN’ (…oh, and the patience to match! haha)

The one I attended was the sugar-themedChapter One’, which featured five interactive rooms based on popular treats. Check out my experience below!

INSTA-STORY

CANDYTOPIA

Candytopia has three locations in the U.S., and lucky for Dallas we are one of them! It was promoted AF on my Instagram, and when a friend of mine said we should make it a ‘girls day’ out of it, I was down. Pretty dope to see a shit ton of candy become art. It’s Marconi art on another level…like, with jelly beans, gummy bears, etc. Y’alls kids gotta step it up! 😜

This one was different than Sweet Tooth, in that there wasn’t really a time limit… yet, in a way, there was… lol. So, yes: more rooms but that also meant more people. AND CHILDREN. (Yeah, IDK why we didn’t think that out haha)

Candytopia does give you info on each of the rooms, you get to take pics, AND you get candy throughout the tour. The problem? There was too many of us.

It was hard to get through it to enjoy the art and get creative 📸with everyone waiting/staring (looking at you kids). Don’t get me wrong — it was really dope. But for $35, I expected more. Will say, the fact that they had just opened AND it was a weekend made it understandable. BUT, I WANTED MORE TIME IN THE MARSHMALLOW PIT, and I cannot forgive that. (Also sooo many kids, yo. This is how you know I’m not a parent 😬)

Anyway! Just plan this one out — if you go. We all did feel like kids again, but also wished there was a bar lol.

🚨I repeat, you get candy in every room! So bring a big ass purse…or pockets 🚨

SNAP151

Haven’t been to this one yet! But it is next on my list, just cuz it’s close…lol. Snap151 is located in Mockingbird Station, and it is more of a pop-up photo studio than exhibit, so…that’s why, haha.

I’m more into art exhibits, but I do enjoy a good photo booth (Exhibit A), so I then I thought, what the heck — let’s check it out since I’ve had different experiences thus far with this new stuff around Dallas.

They are open April 5th - May 19th. So, write that down. But depending on crowds, could be extended, like the other two were 🤷🏻‍♀️They also have a Fort Worth location …soooo, there’s that.

I mean, I get the idea but at what point are we all just posting the same shit? Na’mean? Also… CHALLENGE ACCEPTED…? 🤔

[8/18 UPDATE: I DID NOT GO 😂 —more into pop-up bars NOW, honestly lol]
