Weekly Music Series | Top 5+ Songs (Week 4)
I’ve been busy af with work and traveled to Austin for SXSW, so I didn’t get to post. Sooo… adding some extra sauce! (…3 more songs 🤷🏻♀️)
Sorry not sorry — we here again. Mr Twin Sister has possessed my playlist once again, and though there’s like 10 of their songs in my rotation, this was was my [other] fave this week. I am human, I have weaknesses… moods! And so does my playlist. This song actually woke me up after my Spotify playlist went to radio. I was like ‘damn, I gotta add this!’ Haha. True story.
(Also, check out “Jaipur“ 💁🏻)
You guys, I’m currently obsessed with Baths. The musician (ha!). I was sent a Baths’ “You’re My Excuse to Travel” from my other music enthusiast friend, as we do. And although I’d heard of Baths (aka Will Wiesenfeld) before, I had yet to listen to his full debut album, Cerulean (2010) — where the song was from. So I did and… shit was incredible! The whole album is fantastic (those beats tho!!!) …but this track stuck out to me and has been in my rotation since.
This electronically soulful song might not say much lyrically, it tells a lot in just under 4-minutes. Anyone who’s ever been in an intense relationship should relate, JS. If not — this track is still done so well, I’m sure you’d appreciate it! And it’s followed by “Maximalist” which is straight fire.
Side note: I am still jamming Mr Twin Sister’s “Sensitive” like a psycho, in case you were wondering.
give me another week.
Until then…
One of my favorite 4 tracks from their new album, Tasmania (2019). The build ups 🔥
Other faves: “Doctor’s In”, “Goodnight, P.C.C.” + “Burnt Out Star”
LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE ALBUM, Walking the Midnight Streets! And their other stuff 🙌Midnight Magic has been in my playlist for weeks now. So groovy!
Expect more from them in next week’s post!
Spotify’s Discover Weekly came in clutch this week after SXSW! I used to be OBSESSED with U.S. Girls “Window Shades” 🖤So this made me happy.
“Oino” and “A Good Sign” (Inji, 2015) are my jamssss. But this found it’s way to me, and here we are.
…wait, even better: “A Goood Sign” (Soft Hair, 2016). The extra O makes all the difference haha. Also, Soft Hair is LA Priest (Connan Mockasin) and Late of The Pier (Sam Dust), so it still counts!
Also see: “Jealous Lies” by Soft Hair. So weird/dope.
Just a feel good song, that will make you wanna shimmy, clap, and whistle along (…if only I knew how, haha) And that bass — 👌.
Check out the groovy: “Blue Cigar”
