Explore Dallas | Bishop Arts (Oak Cliff)
I have been going out here the last couple years and absolutely love it. You’ll rarely see me elsewhere. It’s where to go to get away from the pretentious Uptown crowd and the now incredibly overcrowded Deep Ellum — you know, to actually enjoy being out. Also, they have a great art scene!
I actually have mentioned several areas low-key on Insta and Snap through the years, but finally brought up where I’ve been hiding (lol) in my previous post about favorite spots in this still up-and-coming area. Such as: Tiny Victories and Jettison (best cocktails in town!) But I do have wayyy more for you check out! 😊
Here are a few other places I recommend:
THE WILD DETECTIVES
What appears to be just another old house in the ‘hood is this gem! It’s bookstore meets coffee shop meets bar. I mean, c’mon! It has a relaxed vibe, and I’ve found it to be a great workspace as well as a cozy spot to chill with friends… and dates 😉. Wild Detectives also hosts music shows, readings, screenings and tastings!
And their bathroom is great for selfies 😂…

SMALL BREWPUB
Let’s talk about Jefferson Blvd. and the landmark Texas Theatre, ok? You going? Seent it? Then, you gotta check out Small Brewpub! It’s another go-to stop of mine for friendly catchups (and then some☝🏻), as well as a great selection of cocktails and beer.
Not to mention they also have dope Happy Hour food and drinks specials!
Here’s some stuff I recommend:
Potbelly sliders
New Hat
Beer — your call, bruh
333 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208
TEXAS THEATRE
OK you’re already basically there, so why not check out the Texas Theatre on Jefferson — it’s walking distance. The historic site is now also known for featuring classic films. And they have a FULL BAR! They also throw events, such as……
Must-do: Go to the Texas Theatre’s Behind the Screen Shows! They’re dope and just something you gotta experience! 👍🏻
231 W Jefferson Blvd, Dallas, TX 75208
BONUS!
BARBARA’S PAVILLION
Alright. You’ve hit up Texas Theatre and Small Brewpub, but looking for more? I like you. 😉Also, just cross the street to Barbara’s for the best Karaoke in town! Hands down!*
This spot is hidden on Centre Street, by LC Lounge (Last Call) — just skip that place, and go straight to Barbara’s for a good time! Cheap booze, fun decor, a lively crowd, and entertainment! And don’t be lame: join in on the fun! The place isn’t all that big, but does get somewhat crowded on Karaoke nights (Thursdays + Saturdays). Sooo fun!
(PS: I hope you meet Christopher 🤗🎸)

Alright that’s it for now. Please don’t ruin these places for me and the rest of us that have loved and enjoyed this area. Just…just don’t be a dick. KBYEEE✌🏻
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
EL RANCHITO — recommend going for the good food and music! Mariachis be in this B, y’all. And the decor is dope.
LOCKHART — for beer and GD BBQ! Also, it was featured on the Travel Channel. Jusssayinnn’ …so expect a wait. Just grab a beer while you do! 🍻
NORMA’S CAFE and/or JONATHAN’S —for breakfast, because it’s the most important meal of the day. Especially on a Sunday… amirite? #brunch 🥂
TEN BELLS — recommend starting here and hopping around (Social Club is across the street…and more). There are a handful of bars all walking distance in this area; all pretty different vibes, so your call.
